Installing the server
The webPDF server is installed and operated as a central server application. The server provides its web services and the portal via this central installation. You can choose between different forms of installation or deployment to optimally integrate the webPDF server into your IT architecture.
Selecting the installation platform
The first step to use webPDF is the download. You can download and install webPDF for different platforms. Choose the best installation platform for you and follow the next section to install the server.
As Windows installation package for direct installation on a Windows server. The installation package performs the complete installation of the server as a Windows service and provides all necessary components.
As a Linux package that can be installed on various Linux distributions. DEB and RPM packages are available for Debian/Ubuntu, Red Hat/CentOS and SLES/openSUSE. The installation package is installed via the relevant package manager of the Linux system and set up and executed depending on the init system used (Systemd or SysVinit). All necessary dependencies are installed automatically by the packages.
As a container for Docker or Kubernetes, which is provided as a ready-built image via the "Docker Hub" repository. The container is based on a current Debian distribution and can be used directly. To build a customized container, you can also use the GitHub repository directly.

Performing the installation
After you have decided for a platform, you must perform the installation. For this purpose, various instructions and guidance are available.

On the start page of the Package Manager you will find the appropriate commands to install webPDF for the different distributions. In the "Distribution" column, select your Linux distribution and follow the instructions provided for your Linux system.
