You will have to restart the server after making changes to the configuration files. Configuration changes will only take effect after a server restart.

If possible, make changes to the configuration only in the admin area in the portal.

Manual changes to the configuration files should always be made very carefully in order to ensure that the server's functionality and stability are not affected. A wrong change might render the server inoperable.
